I am Weston Ding. I live locally to Los Angeles, California, a place of endless culture and exploration. I enjoy keeping up with the latest news in popular culture and watching reality TV. My favorite band is Little Mix. They are amazing singers from the UK. I also play some basketball and enjoy sports amidst a crowded schedule. I also greatly enjoy magic and I follow many YouTuber magicians including Magicorthodoxy, EvanEraTV, O'BrienMagic, and Deuce Gala.
I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, at UCLA in 2015. My formal experience with pedagogy began when in my senior year, I enrolled in UCLA's Undergraduate Math Pedagogy program and participated in activities with the UCLA Curtis Center for Mathematics and Teaching. I later obtained my Single Subject Teaching Credential in Mathematics at Cal State LA upon completion of my directed teaching in 2017. Since high school, I have tutored a variety of subjects. I worked at various learning centers and school programs. Afterwards, I obtained my Master of Arts in Ed Tech Leadership. From here I learned to build websites.
In 2019, while in the MA in Ed Tech Leadership, I completed a project on how to ground instructional design and development in theory based on your learners and how important this is in order to obtain optimal results. From experience, I have already cited theory for past projects and assessments including the TPA. I have also seen colleagues who struggle to start and write the TPA because they did not have a unified resource for ideas and content to cite amidst having their brains fried by endless obligations! Thus, I wanted to make everything easier for them.
Upon completion of my MA in 2020, I started building websites to keep up my newly learned skills just as the COVID-19 pandemic and shutdowns began. With more time at hand, I brainstormed ideas of sites I could build and who would benefit the most from them. I know many people who struggled to get through the edTPA. I realized that I could take my skills to help my colleagues get through those hoops needed to become a teacher. In addition, I realized all the additional and long-term benefits that exist for such a site such as helping educators apply theory for funding and grants.
Our purpose is to provide resources to help teaching credential candidates and student teachers with their edTPA and other reports. All of our content is carefully sourced from scholarly sources written by experts in their fields of work and study. We aim to provide quality content and a plethora of ideas to write about and incorporate theory into your justifications and analyses. We provide wisdom that all educators can use to improve their pedagogy.
We also want to remind you that as teachers and educators, you are never alone! There are free resources available to help you if you look for them. As you do through your career, there are tons of grants, funding, and resources out there for you. If you just want to chat, email us and we can email back. Also, if you have an idea for teaching and want to put your heart to it, try it! Back it up with proven theory and evidence!
We also provide knowledge you can use when writing your analysis for obtaining your clear credential and writing to obtain money for your classroom and school programs and initiatives! Writing to obtain funding for your classroom or school takes a lot of energy and the competition is high! With knowledge of psycho-developmental theory, sociology theory, instructional design, and more, you can make your writing stand out in the mound of applications that the readers must sort through. Furthermore, by reading and learning from our gamut of knowledge, you can prepare for a Master's degree, Ph.D, or Ed.D in education.
We have been in the shoes of student teachers who are tired and exhausted, who just set two hours aside to complete their TPA, and then turn on their computers and open their documents and then blank out. Any help would have been appreciated. We know having critical vocabulary and discussion topics for the TPA available to give you starting ideas is highly valuable when your brain is overloaded, and you don't have time to dig up your old notes on psycho-developmental theory and instructional planning.
